Emily Ross is a bestselling author, journalist and media consultant. She has more than two decades of writing and editing experience; from editing flagship issues and leadership sections of BRW magazine through to key editorial roles on Australia’s biggest client publication the Qantas magazine. She is the co-author of 100 Great Businesses and the Minds Behind Them (Random House) and 50 Great e-Businesses and the Minds Behind Them (Random House).
In the past five years Emily has expanded her media services beyond finance journalism to develop media strategy in major sectors including local and state government, armed services, resources, healthcare, media, biotechnology, retailing, ASX 200 and SMEs. Her copywriting has extended to a range of marketing collateral, from writing content for entire websites, tender documents, business proposals, news releases, op-ed opinion pieces for the Australian Financial Review and message development and media training for senior executives appearing on programs including The Insiders and the 7:30 Report. She has extensive proofreading experience from reports to be tabled in the Parliament of Victoria to annual reports, major tender documents and business plans.
Emily is passionate about plain English, clear communication, accuracy and creating content that is compelling, useful and carefully tailored to target markets. With her research capabilities, skills at meeting deadlines, editorial decision-making, ability to harvest great content from key stakeholders and understanding of how the media works, she offers her clients a unique skill set.
In 2010, she has begun work creating websites. She has collaborated with the new Monash Obesity and Diabetes Institute on its new website, building it from scratch and is currently working on several new websites. Her roles include concept, copywriting and project management. (A bit like a midwife too!) She brings to her digital clients extensive copywriting experience, years of researching the most successful websites in the world, her project management and editing skills. Her goal remains constant: creating fantastic, interesting, useful content.
“Whatever Emily Ross does, she does with passion, great knowledge and integrity. She uses her superior research skills to understand the subject and get to the heart of what the customer/client wants. She then delivers in a creative way that always exceeds ROI. I can not recommend her highly enough.” Amanda Gome, CEO, Smart Company
